Jay couple arrested on drug and child endangerment charges

JAY – A husband and wife were arrested after police say they supplied marijuana to children under the age of 14.

On 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Carrie Broadway, 33 and Brian Broadway, 32, both of BJ’s Trailer Park, were arrested on charges of aggravated furnishing of schedule drugs, a Class C crime and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class D crime.

According to Police Chief Larry White, Sr., a report was received by his department from the Department of Health and Human Services on Dec. 29, 2009 that allegedly referenced both parents furnishing marijuana to children under the age of 14. Following an investigation by Detective Richard Caton, the couple was arrested without incident at their residence.

They were taken to the Franklin County Jail where they were booked. Bail conditions include no use or possession of illegal drugs and no contact with minors under the age of 16 years old. Both have a court date in the Franklin County superior court of Feb. 19. The investigation is still ongoing and will be reviewed by the Franklin County Distinct Attorney’s Office in regards to any other possible charges.
