Correction: Adams age was incorrectly posted earlier. His correct age is 46.
MADRID – A 46-year-old Wilton man is lucky to be alive after the truck he was driving was impaled with a fallen tree trunk on Route 4 this morning.

Edgar Adams was driving a 2000 Chevy truck north on Route 4 near Smalls Falls when he struck a fallen tree lying in the road. The tree’s trunk pierced through the engine and ran into the truck’s cab, which caught the vehicle on fire, said Trooper Randy Keaten of the Maine State Police.

“He managed to pull himself from the vehicle,” Keaten said. When the Phillips Fire Department crew arrived, Adams was laying in the ditch beside the road suffering from blunt force trauma injury to his lower abdomen and legs.

Adams was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A spokesman Friday evening said Adams’ condition status was unknown as of yet.

  1. OMG! I hope you’re all right, Edgar! Too bad they got your age wrong…you look pretty good for 63! (He’s only 45)

  2. Hey Edgar – tree trunks can make a mess out of a vehicle. I’m glad you’re alive. I thought he was 90 BJ.
