WILTON – A 32-year-old Farmington man was arrested, police said for selling prescription drug medication.

On Wednesday, Wilton Police Detective Richard Billian Jr. arrested Kelly Thibodeau, charging him with unlawful trafficking in Schedule Z drugs, a Class D misdemeanor. Police were tipped off that illegal drug deals were going on and, after surveillance of the area and further investigation, reportedly found that 20 pills, of the medication xanax, usually prescribed to treat anxiety disorders, had been illegally sold.

“This case was specific to the sale of prescription medication, which is a big problem in our area,” Det. Billian.

Thibodeau’s bail was set at $3,000 unsecured.

  1. what good does it do to spend money on surveillance and arrest people for drugs when all you get is 100 hrs of community service for growing weed in your basment? I think this is a waste of time if this is all these drug dealers are going to get.

  2. As a local media outlet, it would be helpful if the Bulldog were to publish where this took place in Wilton. It would be nice for local residents to know if illegal drugs were / are being dealt in their neighborhood (or not).

  3. This may come from my limited understanding of the legal system, but doesn’t this ruling seem a bit ridiculous.
The courts set the bail for a 63 year-old child molester in the same county at $1,000 while a guy who sells 20 xanax is hit with $3,000 set bail. This seems like misplaced values to me. I understand that the sale of prescription drugs is a serious problem in our county and our state, however, a man who has reportedly had unlawful sexual conduct with minors (one under the age of 15) for a number of years has his bail set much lower that this pusher from Wilton. Again, this may stem from a lack of understanding in legal proceedings, but I feel as though the courts should look at who is more of a threat to our communities.
