KINGFIELD – Anita M. Parsons, 74, of Kingfield passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Anita M. Parsons

She was born Nov. 27, 1935 in Kingfield, the daughter of Alex J. Sr. and Impi H. (Miller) Sillanpaa. She was educated in the schools of Kingfield. As a young woman she left Kingfield and traveled to Worcester, Mass. to work at Bellmont Hospital for a few years. She then returned home to work in the wood mill and married Everett Parsons on Oct. 26, 1958 in Bingham.

After getting married Anita and Everett moved to Moose River where she worked for the Maine Forest Service providing weather information for the Jackman area. In 1969 they moved to Caratunk and she worked as a janitor for the one-room school house. In 1981 they moved back to Kingfield and she worked at Kingfield Wood Products and then Joneco, Judsons Motel, and the Herbert Hotel retiring in 1993. She took great pride in her work and always put others before herself, especially her family.

Anita was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed beano, fishing, and drinking coffee. She loved animals, feeding the chipmunks and birds at the cabin, and had a close bond with her poodle Daisy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the NorthStar ambulance staff and the Franklin Memorial Emergency Room staff for their care of Anita. Special heartfelt thank you to all who helped her out, especially the snowplow boys (you know who you are).

Anita is survived by two daughters, Linda Parsons and her companion Randy Holden of Norridgewock, and Brenda Parsons of Kingfield; a son Daniel Parsons and his wife Debbie of Winslow; four grandchildren Kerry Shaw, Miranda Dumont, and Dan and Molly Parsons; three sisters, Sylvia Carlson of Fl., Sally Dudley and husband Lucien of Kingfield, and Minerva of Worcester, Mass.; brothers Wiekko Sillanpaa and her special twin Austin “Pop” Sillanpaa both of Kingfield; her sister-in-laws Betty Sillanpaa of Newport and Blanche Sillanpaa of New Vineyard; a special friend Tynne Pillman of Kingfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Anita was predeceased by her husband in 2007; and four brothers, John, Niilo, Martin, and Robert.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield with Rev. Kim Ore officiating.
