EUSTIS – Donald Owen Coté, Sr., 66, of Eustis, died early Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Scarbough, April 25, 1943, a son of Ernest and Helen (McCormick) Coté.

On Aug. 23, 1960, he married Yvonne Pomerleau and for over the last 30 years, made their home in Eustis. He was self-employed as a carpenter and owned and operated Don Coté Guide Service.

Don enjoyed the outdoors and was known for building furniture and for panning for gold in the area. He was a member of the NRA and the Arnold Trail Snowmobile Club.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Yvonne of Eustis; his children, Donald Jr. and his wife Denise of Stratton, Tina Ryan and her husband Marshall also of Stratton, Yvonne “Babes” Coté and her partner Paula Crandall of Strong, Gregory Coté and his wife Debra of New Gloucester, Kelly Coté and her fiancé Chris Bard of Farmington, and Kevin Coté and his wife Sam of Eustis; a special granddaughter, Bobbie-Jo of Stratton; 2 sisters, Mary Stegar of Raymond and Florence Coté of Florida; brother Victor Coté of Scarborough; 22 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Ann; son, Robert; grandson, Derrick Coté; a grandson Nicholas Coté and a granddaughter Rickylee O’Neill and brothers, Ernest, Clifford, Stanley, and Albert.

Public memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Stratton. Interment will follow at the New Flagstaff Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Donald’s life at Trail’s End Steakhouse where a video remembrance will be held with refreshments. The family asks that those who desire make memorial contribution’s in Donald’s memory to Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice, PO Box 797, Wilton, ME 04294. Memorial services and cremation services are being provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington and Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.   1. We are honored to have known Don. He was a special person and was always willing to help us at camp. Don will be sadly missed! Our thoughts and prayers to Yvonne and family. God Bless!
