WILTON – Harlan Marble, 85, of Sunset Avenue, Wilton, died early Wednesday, June 22 at his home in Wilton.

He was born Nov. 29, 1925 in Haverhill, Mass., a son of Herbert A. and Amelia G. (Fossie) Marble and moved to Wilton at the age of 5. In 1944, he married Nathalie Spiller. She died in 1985. In 1986, he married Millicent (Richards) Burrill at the Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Marble was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper in the Asian Theatre during World War II. He worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut for a time and later worked at International Paper Co. in Jay before establishing his own real estate business in Wilton.

He was a member of the Williamson Lodge IOOF, the Farmington Elks Lodge 2430, Wilton Lions, American Legion, the Woodland Wanderers Snowmobile Club, and the Wilton Senior Citizens. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife, Millicent of Wilton; sons, David and his wife Maureen of Essex Jct., VT; Dana and his wife Bonnie of Waite; Steven and his wife Nancy of Lyman; Peter and his wife Nancy of Wilton and Richard and his wife Weslene of Farmington; Millie’s children, Diana Ryder of Westford, Mass. and Michael Burrill of Farmington; grandchildren, Travis, Douglas, Andrew, Peter, Jr., Lisa, Michelle, Melissa “Missy”, Nicole, Matthew, Michael, Anthony, Kristin, Candice, Randy, Lisa, and Angela; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Shawn; brothers: John Waldron Marble and Herbert Marble, Jr. and a sister, Mildred. Memories and condolences may be shared on Mr. Marble’s memory wall at www.wilesrc.com.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High Street, Wilton. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. The family asks that contributions be considered in Mr. Marble’s memory to Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice, PO Box 797, Wilton, ME 04294.

  1. My condolences go out to Milly and their children for their loss. Harley was a wonderful person and I remember him as I grew up in Wilton
