FARMINGTON – John Edward Wilson, 78, of Livermore Falls, died peacefully at Edgewood Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation on Thursday May 12, 2011.
He was born on May 24, 1932, in Belton, Texas, the son of Willie Hugh and Dollie Mae (Rogers) Wilson. He received his education in Texas schools and earned his GED. He was proud of his service to his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. For many years, he was a boiler maker, working for a variety of construction companies.
He was a member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 and the Lane Dube AMVETS Post 33. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Professional Rodeo Cowboys Club. Locally, he will best be remembered as the recipient of the “keys” to the town of Livermore Falls and was known as “Tex,” waving to everyone from his Main Street “post.”
He is survived by one sister, Ann Smith and her husband, Hubert, of Abilene, TX; several nieces and nephews, friends and his oldest nephew Barton Sandlin and his wife, Joan of McGregor, Texas.
