WILTON – Lida Jean (Lake) Trask, 70, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes early Thursday morning, May 20, 2010, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.

She was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Wilton, a daughter of Hollis P. and Phyllis (Richardson) Lake.  On July 25, 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Jay Trask. They celebrated 50 years of marriage last summer. Lida graduated from Wilton Academy in 1957 and continued her education at Forsythe Dental School, a division of Tufts, in Boston. She worked as a dental hygienist in Reading, Mass., and Bangor, Farmington and Livermore for over 25 years.

She was later employed by Hannafords, serving as a cashier in the Jay store for many years and was known for her sunny disposition toward her customers, many of whom chose her line faithfully to brighten their day. She also worked side by side for over 20 years with her husband in the family business, snowmobile and ATV sales and service at Trailside Crossing on Rt. 2 in Wilton.

Lida had many career paths throughout her years, but none was more important than being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to the family she adored. She was a Girl Scout, and Cub Scout leader, and was very involved in her children’s activities and sports at Wilton Academy and Mt. Blue High School when they were growing up. In recent years she enjoyed attending all of the ball games, track meets, dance recitals, concerts, plays and other activities that her five grandchildren were involved in.

Her many hobbies over the years included quilting, sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, ceramics, cooking and reading.

She is lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her husband, Robert “Bob” Trask of Wilton; David Trask and his wife, Cheryl Twitchell Trask and their children Olivia and Nathaniel of Vassalboro and Donna Trask Buttarazzi and her husband, James and their children Samantha, Colin and Jacob of Arundel; her mother, Phyllis Lake of Wilton; three sisters: June Todt and her husband, Martin of Hampstead, NH; Beth Knowles and her husband, James of Cape Cod, Mass.; and Kris Ramos and her husband, George of Canton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her beloved dad, Hollis P. Lake.
