WILTON – Phyllis R. Lake, 93, of Weld Rd., Wilton, passed peacefully in the early afternoon hours of Monday, November 1st, 2010, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis was born March 21, 1917 in Norway, Maine to Herman and Lida (Prince) Richardson. She was a 1935 graduate of Wilton Academy and attended a business college in Bangor for a year, returning to Wilton to help her grandmother manage the Boarding House in Dryden.

On Sept. 17, 1937, she married Hollis P. Lake in Wilton and they moved to their home on the Weld Road. She proudly lived for 73 years in the same home where she and Hollis happily raised their four daughters. He preceded her in death in 2005. A devoted wife and mother, she was also employed in the Department of Woodlands at International Paper in Jay for many years.

She was a member of the Wilton Congregational Church, the Co-operative Extension and the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and playing cards. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and her story-telling abilities. She was lovingly cherished, and will be deeply missed by her large, extended family.

She is predeceased by her eldest daughter, Lida Lake Trask, who passed away in May of this year. She is survived by three daughters: June Lake Todt and her husband, Martin of Hampstead, New Hampshire; Beth Lake Knowles and her husband, James S. II of Harwich, Massachusetts, and Kris Lake Ramos and her husband, George of Canton Maine, her son-in-law, Robert Trask of Wilton, Maine; eleven grandchildren; David Trask, Donna Trask Buttarrazzi, Heidi Todt Leroux, Holly Todt Boyd, James S. Knowles III, Jennifer Knowles McLaughlin, Ryan White and Sarah, Daniel, Jonathan, and Hannah Ramos. 13 cherished great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also predeceased by two half brothers, Herman “Butch” Richardson and Stanley “Stan” Richardson.

 Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High ST., Wilton, on Saturday November 20th from 11:30 AM until the time of the services at 1 PM. Rev. Margaret Proctor will be officiating. Remembrance gifts may be given to FMH Diabetes Ed. Dept. 111 Franklin Health Commons Farmington, ME. 04938.   1. My prayers go out to family. This has been a very hard year for you.
    Jammie III you have done a wondarful job taking care of gram so she could stay at home.
    I will always remember all those times I picked up Beth to go out Phyllis and Hollis would say “have fun and be good” she was in good hands with Shannon.
