SKOWHEGAN – Samuel “Sam” W. Jackson, 57, of Farmington, died unexpectedly Friday at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan.
He was born Dec. 3, 1950 in Louisiana, a son of Samuel T. Jackson and Mae Steward and received his education in Louisiana schools. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in forestry.
On Nov. 20, 1999, he married Carol Munson Taylor in Wilton. Mr. Jackson was a self employed forester, currently working with Plum Creek. He was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church. His passions were involvement with the Mobile Baptist builders, focused on building churches to spread God’s word, working with his sawmill, gardening, and being in the woods.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Farmington; son, Craig of LA; daughters, Kelli of NC and Kimberly of LA and Carrie Bredeau and her husband Ward of Phillips; a sister, Ruth Mattingly and her husband Larry of Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; He was predeceased by his father.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Baptist Church, Whittier Road, Farmington. Following services a luncheon will be held in the church undercroft. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service, and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington Tuesday 6-8 p.m. The family asks that those who desire make memorial contributions to the Diabetes Education Program at Franklin Memorial Hospital, 111 Franklin Health Commons, Farmington, ME 04938.
