Sybilla A. “Sally” Bachelder

EAST WILTON – Sybilla A. “Sally” Bachelder, 81, of East Wilton, formerly of Oxford, died early Tuesday evening, Oct. 5, 2010, at her son’s home in East Wilton surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1929 in Farmington, the daughter of Purlwood and Lillian (Townsend) Oram. She attended Wilton and Farmington schools.

On July 25, 1961, she married James Bachelder in Rangeley. He died on Sept. 25, 2002. 

Sally was a homemaker to her husband and six children. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. The owner of a “magic pot” she could put together amazing meals out of what seemed like nothing.

She will be sadly missed by her special grandson, Jason who lived with her early in life. Many of her days this summer were filled with pleasure by the time she spent with Destiny, Austin and Jordyn as they fished, swam, and brought bugs back for her to hold. She also treasured the sleepovers with her many grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Rose Thibeault of Lewiston, Judy Thurlow and her husband, Keith of Waterford, Tim Thibault and his wife, Lisa of East Wilton, Darlene Annance and her fiancé, Pete Bryant of East Wilton and Michael Bachelder and his wife, Shannon of Oxford; siblings, Woody Oram of Skowhegan, Dot Hatch of TX, Clara Berry of Belfast, Linda Scott of Auburn and Pearl Wahl of Waterville; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren on the way; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son James “Jimmy” Thibault; two sisters, Madeline and Annette; one brother, Jimmy Oram.

Her family wishes to thank all of the nurses at Franklin Memorial Hospital for their care at the end of her life.

Words of condolence and tribute may be shared with her family at www.wilesrc.com. Funeral services will be held, 1PM, Sun., Oct. 10, 2010 at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton with Brian Clements, officiating.
