Letter to the Editor: Robinson for House District 89

1 min read

If you have spent any time reading the local political opinion news lately, it is fairly evident that there are two candidates running for the local house seat in the Maine Legislature. However, I am thoroughly convinced at this point that I will vote for Yvette Robinson who is challenging the incumbent. Here’s why:

Most importantly, for someone who will be representing a large group of people with a huge range of ideas, I find Yvette to be extraordinarily open-minded and an excellent listener. She doesn’t seem to find it necessary to feel out your political affiliation before she asks for your ideas, and thoughtfully considers ideas from a variety of “camps.”

She has proven to be an excellent member of the school board, often asking insightful and intelligent questions, and making decisions based on information, not party politics. This Farmington resident is intelligent, articulate, well educated (with an undergraduate degree from our own University of Maine), caring, thoughtful, and genuinely respects people of all ages and walks of life.

She is open, easily approachable, friendly, and is an avid outdoorswoman. Furthermore, and of great importance, she has plain-old common sense.

These characteristics will make her a fine representative for Farmington and Industry!

  1. So, because she has an undergraduate degree she is the best choice? Are you implying that someone without one is less qualified? Are you implying that a mill worker shouldn’t be a representative? Are you implying that a person that goes to work everyday without a degree should not have a chance to be a legislator?
Mr. Harvell also listens to all constituents as many will tell you.
I have seen the school board in action, and feel that sometimes they as a body lack the strength to make the tough decisions.
