Letter to the Editor: Shame on you, Mr. President and Congress

2 mins read

It took 48 hours to pass a $787 billion stimulus bill and the President wanted health care done in a week.

But 86 days have passed since Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal’s formal request for more troops and the President is still thinking. Our country has soldier and marine boots on the ground risking their lives in a foreign country – I see no greater priority for our government than to ensure their well being.

Some say he is being prudent or wants to get it right. But I thought he had a plan and this General was the guy to carry it out. Now it appears President Obama had no plan, and given his actions may be in over his head!

Being president is a higher pay grade than being a community organizer or serving in the Senate for 149 days, a “present” vote does not work here – the buck stops on his desk. By now the 173rd Airborne Brigade has fully deployed to Afghanistan – my son is a paratrooper in that unit. While he was home on leave two weeks ago we purchased a new scope for his M-4 rifle because the Army has yet to provide his unit with the new ones.

His Hummer is up-armored but does not have a fire suppression system for the fuel tank, and the needs list goes on. President Obama claimed he would give the soldiers what they need in the field but it too is just another broken promise that the media ignores.

I am proud of my son he volunteered and is prepared to do his duty despite the challenges. My father had a saying that “you either have to go or get off the pot.”

Shame on you, Mr. President and Congress for not doing either!

  1. Well said!!

This country will not be able to sustain his actions (lack of) much longer!!

President Obama has shattered the budget record for first-year presidents — spending nearly double what his predecessor did. $3.5 trillion during President Obama’s first year in office.

$1.4 trillion deficit, nearly $1 trillion more than last year!

    Climategate!

    17% unemployment!!

    Obamacare!!

Cap and trade!! aka, pay for the development of other countries!

  2. I can’t wait for all those who voted him in to fall over in shock when their employers drop their health care for obamacare….hahahahahahah! It’s going to happen. Be afraid when the congress will not op for the obamacare program…it means it is a poor program that they wouldnot want for their families.
