Letter to the Editor: Strong’s town meeting tomorrow

1 min read

To the Editor:

There will be a special town meeting on Friday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Office in Strong. This meeting is to see if the town will allow $5,000 to be taken from surplus and added to the legal account.

After attending a court hearing Wednesday on a matter that the town selectmen brought before the court, in my opinion, no one can afford not to attend this meeting. You should know where your tax dollars are being spent.

  1. It was a frivilous action against Eunice Shurtleff by the Town officers. There was a denial of allegations and a commitment not to commit whatever the allegations were for the followiing year by Mrs Shurtleff.. And the judge found no evidence of harrassment against her, either. I believe that this is all stated in the official court records.

  2. Denial of allegations does not make legal action frivolous. It sure sounds like Mrs. Shurtleff was out of control. Just pay for the photocopies like everyone else in town.

  3. Seriously? Frivolous action? If you read the article regarding the incident, one town employee was intimidated enough by Mrs. Shurtleff’s phone call alone to take defensive action by locking her office door and calling in the chair of the Board of Selectman. This tells me Mrs. Shurtleff has acted inappropriately before. It’s time for Mrs. Shurtleff and her family to move on. They lost their original case to the Maine Supreme Court. The town and it’s people have had enough!
