(Editor’s note: The deadline for letters pertaining to the Nov. 2 election is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, so we may have time to post them all. Thanks to everyone for writing.)

I will say right up front that I am not in the know on the finer ins and outs of politics. I do believe that I am a fair judge of character. I would like to share what I know about the character of Lance Harvell.
I have worked side by side with Lance for over 20 years. The word that first comes to mind when I think of his character is altruistic. And here is why.

A while back I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Working shift work would occasionally flare my disease. Once Lance learned of this he immediately volunteered to swap and work all my night shifts while I worked his days. He continued this for nearly a year until my health improved. He did this while trying to, be a husband, father and run a campaign. I have read how some people think Lance is just another heartless politician. I can tell you personally that nothing can be further from the truth. He is always willing to give a helping hand even if it means a detriment to himself. He continuously leads by example. This is the character of Lance Harvell, my friend. Please consider him as your state representative.
