Letter to the Editor: Vote for Lance Harvell

1 min read

Dear Editor:

Constituents living in the towns of Farmington and Industry are very lucky to be able to call Lance Harvell their state representative. I have been proud to work alongside him at the State House and have learned a great deal as he displays his vast knowledge of Maine’s Constitution and state government. His colleagues on the Joint Standing Committee on State and Local Government are able to benefit from his wisdom and expertise.

Rep. Harvell is truly the voice of the people. He seeks out comments and suggestions from folks in his district and brings those concerns and ideas to Augusta. He is one of the most attentive legislators I have come across in my eight years in the Legislature. He is continually contacting state agencies, writing letters, recognizing folks for outstanding accomplishments, hosting students during session – the list goes on and on.

Harvell has emerged as a leader among his caucus members. He is ready, willing and more than capable of representing the citizens of District 89. He deserves to be called upon to serve again.

I urge the citizens of Farmington and Industry to vote for Lance Harvell.

Sincerely,

Thomas B. Saviello

  1. I urge the people of Maine to read the Maine Republican Platform— the document that is the manifesto or the beliefs of the party; that which they intend to pursue if/when elected to public office.
    http://www.mainegop.com/PlatformMission.aspx (adopted May 8, 2010).
Please do not stop reading until you complete the initiatives of the platform under the heading
which reads “In pursuit of these principles we endorse and shall promote the following initiatives.”

Mr. Saviello has changed parties twice to become a (R) and Mr. Harvell is also a member of the (R) party.
Logic would suggest Mr Saviello believes strongly in the platform to change parties twice. That these two men are members of the (R) party and are the party’s candidates implies (strongly) they must believe in and have agreed to these initiatives.

As nice as these men may be, they are beholden to the party, the platform and the initiatives.
However, nice doesn’t cut it. These initiatives are caustic, divisive, and the rhetoric is just plain scary. This will not bring unity to the people of Maine or this nation. As an independent voter, I cannot nor will vote for any candidates of this particular party platform. I will never believe in these initiatives.

  2. I would suggest to you Independent that Tom Saviello did not leave the Democrat party but that the Democrat Party left him! Today’s Democrat party resembles in no way the party of John F. Kennedy! Years of pandering to their special interest group namely big labor unions and the constant desire to gain a larger base through extensive entitlement programs have pushed this state yo the edge! And in the last 4 years under Democrat control the US House and Senate have done the same!

  3. Independant,….we all read it already. I read it at your urging, and I thank you for that, but the platforn isnt spooking anyone. At least ,not as much as what the dems have been doing for the last 30 years. As far as being “beholding to the party”, you have not spend any time in the state house watching the dems vote, They stick together like a bag of magnets, voting in laws the people of Maine don’t want Then we all have to waste time having elections, reversing the stupid laws they pass, like the idiotic “tax reform” plan they came up with. Come on, who’s really the scary party here?

  4. Independent- you really need to find another song to sing. A read of the Republican party platform doesn’t reveal anything alarming to a reasonable person with any common sense. Shouldn’t you be spending more of your time on your school board business? The Democrats have owned Augusta for 40 years, and look where we are. Let’s give the Republicans a shot at it.
