Letter to the Editor: Woloson committed to serving public

3 mins read

Some people go into politics as a form of self-aggrandizement. They are more interested in photo-ops than in actually creating a better world.

These people look to see if there is a reporter and a camera before they decide whether to attend any event.

They flip-flop from one party to the next, holding up their finger to see which way the wind blows before they vote on anything. They avoid stating their opinion and refuse to participate in political debates because they might be held accountable for what they say.

Other people such as Ann Woloson, District 18 candidate for the State Senate, commit their careers to serving the public. They do not seek the limelight. Instead they spend their time and energy working to make a difference. Their entire life is dedicated to serving their community.

For people like Ann, seeking elected office is not about inflating the ego, it is just another way to serve others. She states her opinion clearly, supports it with facts, and tells you why it will benefit the people of Maine- not just the wealthy few, but all the people of Maine. She is not afraid of political debate and she does not waffle in the wind. Ann Woloson is a wonderful person and a great candidate.

Ann volunteered for nearly 20 years for Literacy Volunteers, where she trained and served as a tutor, and then a tutor trainer, and then eventually became president of the Board of Directors for the Waterville affiliate.

In addition Ann has

  • Helped create the Maine Dental Access Coalition whose mission is to improve access to oral healthcare throughout Maine.
  • Served as a member of the Community Advisory Committee to advise the creation of the Maine Health Access Foundation.
  • Served on the Commission to Study the Future of Primary Care in Maine.

As Chief of Staff for Maine’s Senate Majority Leaders Ann worked for over 3 1/2 years providing guidance and expertise regarding health care policy and financing, prescription drug programs, hospital financing and the state budget issues.

The choice is clear. It would be difficult to find a person better suited to represent the people of District 18 than Ann Woloson. She is clearly a superior candidate… head and shoulders above her opponent.

  1. I used a democrat too. But i left the party because the party left me for special interest groups.

I just looked at forbes business ranking for Maine. It was ranked 50th out of 50. Good thing DC was not included or we may have been 51. Why? Because the Dem’s have been in control of the legilsature for 40 years. Maybe you should consider changing too!

I agree Ann has good qualifications concerning health care. What else does she have for experience? She might make a good replacement for Trish Riley.

lastly, you and others keep hammering about the photos. Did you ever stop to think what is behind the photos? Maybe you should ask his constituents. Its funny i have yet to see Ann at any of the local events hepling. maybe if she did her photo would appear!
