UMF completes nationals

WINTER PARK, Colo. – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s skiing team completed its competition at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships today.

Finishing competition in their fourth straight Nationals, the Beavers participated in slalom racing at Winter Park and the 3 x 5K relay at Devil’s Thumb.

Farmington placed 12th out of 21 teams in the slalom. Plymouth State University won the event.

Brendon Fields (NY) was the Beavers’ top racer in 53rd at a two-run time of 2:04.57. Nate Dumais (Turner, ME) followed in 57th at 2:08.44 with Corey White (Deerfield, NH) in 59th at 2:13.38.

Results were unavailable for the 3 x 5K relay.

Competing unattached, Farmington student Katie Keough (Cumberland, ME) has been taking part in the women’s snowboard competition. Keough finished fifth in the giant slalom with a two-run time of 1:19.49.

The University of California at Davis’ Tess Weathers won the event with a finish of 1:12.53.

Keough also placed 19th in the boarder-X competition with a finish of 1:24.52. Sierra Nevada College’s Devon Crowther was the winner at 1:03.17.
