The talk will be held at the Phillips Public Library, 96 Main Street in Phillips on April 12, 2023 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ellen draws on her years of experience in commercial gardening in Avon Maine to lead a discussion on the challenges of home gardening in traditional plots, raised beds, and small greenhouses. Come to the Phillips Public Library to gain insights for planning your garden. Readers, Writers, and Runners 5K and Maine Author Visit   The Readers, Writers, and Runners 5K, a fundraiser for the Phillips Public Library, will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 10 a.m.  The race begins and ends at the Phillips Library.  There will be an award ceremony and prize raffle following the race, with lunch available for sale by our local Girl Scouts, troop #1084.  Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the library parking lot.  $10 race fee.   Immediately following awards, join us for a book talk with Maine writer D. Managing Field Lands for Grassland Birds and Soils for Forever Chemicals

The Phillips Public Library Seed Loan Project presents - Laura Suomi-Lecker is the technical manager of the Ag Allies statewide grassland bird habitat project. She will discuss Maine's grassland-dependent bird species and their conservation, as well as best management practices to improve grassland habitat while maintaining sustainable hay crops. Richard Kersbergen is the Extension Professor for Sustainable Dairy and Forage Systems with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
