Timothy Burris – “The Presence of the Past”
Emery Community Arts Center at the University of Maine at FarmingtonIn the first half of the performance Timothy Burris plays baroque music from ca 1650 to 1720 on baroque lute, the second half is devoted to guitar music of the 20th through the 21st century. The title “Presence of the Past” refers to the resurfacing of baroque and renaissance styles in the later modern guitar music. Timothy Burris is presently on the faculties of applied music of the Portland Conservatory of Music and Colby College. He received a performance degree in lute from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and holds a PhD from Duke University. He has widely appeared
Open Mic Night – “Live at St. Joe’s!”

ArtsFarmington, with major sponsorship from the Franklin Savings Bank, is pleased to bring the full Nutcracker ballet back to Farmington on Sunday, December 11. This beloved Christmas classic ballet will be performed by the Robinson Ballet Co. of Bangor. It is danced to the recorded music of Tchaikovsky. It will start at 3P.M. in the Bjorn Auditorium of Mt. “Everlasting Light,” a beautiful, moving Christmas cantata to be presented at the New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham Street in Farmington, showcases the profound significance of the light of Christ coming to earth. An insightful narration incorporates Scripture and personal reflection to tie together the compelling combination of powerful original music and beloved carols. The celebratory opener, “Everlasting Light,” acts as the cornerstone of the work. “Longing for the Light” beautifully portrays a yearning for restoration. A stirring original song with words inspired by Mary’s Songs of Praise found in Luke 1:44-56; and “Shepherds and Angels” add joyful energy. The
Caroling, Cocoa and Games
Come join Farmington Baptist Church (194 Whittier Road) folks for an afternoon of fun! Join them as they go out into the community to share Christmas joy with song or choose to stay and sing carols & play board games inside their comfortable facility. Groups will be singing traditional Christmas carols at many of the local nursing homes in addition to other destinations & then returning to the church for cocoa & cookies. The movies will be accompanied by musician Doug Protsik on Old Time Piano. Buster Keaton, a silent movie actor of the early 1900s, is a master of mime, humor and daring stunts. In the short movie a just-married couple is putting together, in one week, their first house from a kit. With lots of tribulations! In the main feature Keaton plays the character of a projectionist of a theater who does double duty as custodian and, on top of that, has a secret aspiration of becoming a
