Spandits! will hold its annual 5k & Kid’s 1 Mile Trail Run on July 30, running the Mt. Blue High School cross country course. The 1 Mile race will be held at 6 p.m. and the 5K event will be held at 6:30 p.m. The course is located across from the High School at 128 Seamon Road in Farmington. Parking is available in the high school lot. Registration is same day only, beginning at 5 p.m. at the event. The fee is $8 for the 1 Mile and $20 for the 5K. Join United Way for the 5th annual COLOR ME UNITED 5k...you can walk, run, or roll as you have a blast getting sprayed with paint and water. Finally no need to travel to have this kind of fun! Friday August 20 meet at the library at 7pm to enjoy a bat snack, learn some interesting facts about bats, see a bat skeleton and bat guano amongst other things, and for the younger crowd, listen to a bat story and do a bat craft if there is time. If not, Take & Makes will be available. At around 7:45pm we will head over to Teaberry Lane, where parking will be available on the first house on the right. From there we will walk down the road and listen for bat echolocations under the guidance of Shevenell Webb, local Wildlife

There has been some activity down Whistlestop Trail. A homestead is being slowly moulded out of the landscape. Elizabeth Olbert (faculty at UMF) will lead a conversation on the limits of realism and Andrew Wyeth’s depictions of Mainers before guiding participants through a multimedia art workshop. Artists and non-artists are welcome, and all art materials will be provided. Bagels and coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. Discussion and workshop begin at 10:00 a.m.
Trains will depart Sanders station on the hour from 11 AM through 3 PM. You are free to depart on one train and return on a later train should you wish to make use of our picnic grove or simply spend more time exploring the roundhouse and other nearby buildings preserved from the original railroad. The Readfield Community Library and the Dr. Shaw Memorial Library in Mt. Vernon are partnering to offer patrons and area residents an opportunity to participate in a free "Fix-A-Bike" Workshop, with instruction provided by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. This 2-hour hands-on workshop, open to teens and adults, will cover routine maintenance, roadside repairs, general bicycle mechanics, and how to perform a basic tune-up. Please bring your bike along! All tools and instruction will be provided. Two workshop times/locations will be offered on Wednesday, September 22. From 2:30-4:30pm, a workshop will take place outdoors at the Dr. Shaw Memorial Library

The trees are changing, enjoy the scenic splendor along the banks of the Sandy River! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy! Walk the Flyrod Crosby Trail…. Fare is $6.00 for Adults, $2.00 for Children.
