United Way is partnering with Riverside Greenhouses and B&B Bakery to offer a special Mother's Day treat this year! This year, you can order a fresh spring bouquet (large) for $25 or a small fresh spring bouquet with a 1/2 dozen macarons for $25. As in past years, you can also order a bouquet to donate to a local nursing home and we'll get them delivered by area youth. Orders accepted until May 5th. Please join us on Friday April 7 at 2 pm for an ecumenical prayer walk in downtown Farmington. It is based on the medieval tradition of the stations of the Cross, from the condemnation of Jesus to his burial. The walk will start at 2 pm at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 110 Academy Street and proceed to the North Church, 118 High Street, Farmington, and from there round a couple of blocks in downtown Farmington, to end beside the cemetery behind the courthouse. Come join the experience of celebrating Easter morning way up on Sugarloaf. Please arrive early and overdress! It’s always much colder than you think. Bring a headlamp if you have one; some people find that helpful getting to where we stand for the service. Meet at the base of the Super Quad Chair. Lift will load from 5:15-5:20 AM only. No lift ticket required. You must ski/board down. Recommended for people intermediate level or above (trail can be firm and dim that time of morning). Lift may change due to weather.

The Phillips Public Library Seed Loan Program sponsors a live presentation by Ellen Foster who will speak about “Gardening Techniques for Plots, Raised Beds and Greenhouses”. The talk will be held at the Phillips Public Library, 96 Main Street in Phillips on April 12, 2023 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ellen draws on her years of experience in commercial gardening in Avon Maine to lead a discussion on the challenges of home gardening in traditional plots, raised beds, and small greenhouses. Western Maine Audubon is pleased to announce a presentation titled, The Distribution and Ecology of the Butterflies of Maine on Wednesday, May 10th at 7 pm in UMF’s North Dining Hall. The presentation, which is free to the public, will be given by retired Professor of Biology, Herb Wilson. Dr. Wilson’s talk will center around the findings presented in the Butterflies of Maine and Maritime Provinces, to be published this fall by the Cornell University Press. This publication is based on a citizen-science project (the Maine Butterfly Survey or MBS) with field work conducted between 2003 and 2019. Many members

10th Annual Earth Day Volunteer Cleanup
Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in the 10th annual Farmington Earth Day Cleanup. The cleanup will be held from 1-3pm rain or shine (hopefully shine). Volunteers meet at the Pierce House at 204 Main Street, next to the Post Office, any time between 1 and 3pm. Bags and gloves will be provided. The adorable baby goats will be back this year so everyone can have some time to pet them before they get to work cleaning the streets, parks and paths around Farmington. Join go-en fermented foods for a miso making workshop and discussion about miso and its uses, as well as the history and cultural significance of this traditional fermented food of Japan. Having been produced for more than a millennium, miso utilizes techniques and relationships that have been passed down from generation to generation with little alteration. Learn why that is and get to know the microbial partners within and around us that have agreed to carry on these relationships. This will be a hands-on workshop. VFW Post #3335 will hold their annual "sock hop" for Veterans, Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring new socks for men and women to the VFW Post.
